Situated in the New York Harbor, the Ellis Island Immigration Museum is accessible via the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Ferry from Battery Park in lower Manhattan, New York or Liberty State Park, Jersey City, New Jersey.

Directions:
From Manhattan via MTA Bus-
Take M1 (West Side Service) or M6 & M15 (East Side Service)
From Manhattan via Subway-
R train to Whitehall Station, or 1 to South Ferry or 4/5 train to Bowling Green Station. Walk through Battery Park to Castle Clinton, where you purchase ferry tickets.

Via Car:
In Manhattan, use the FDR Drive (Harlem River Parkway) on the East Side, or the Henry Hudson/Westside Highway. Both roadways lead to Battery Park. Parking is available for charges from municipal parking companies.

In New Jersey, take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 14B, and follow signs to Liberty State Park and the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island ferry service. Ample parking exists at Liberty State Park for a nominal fee for cars and busses.

Hours of Operation: Both Liberty Island and Ellis Island are open every day of the year except December 25 from 9:30am until 5:00pm (with extended hours in the summer).

How To Tour-
The museum is designed as a self-guided museum with three floors of audio/visual displays and exhibits detailing the history of immigration processing. Generally, you should allow three hours to tour. The museum is accessible for those who are physically challenged.

Free Park Ranger Guided Tours are available daily at the scheduled times posted at the Information Booth.
